National Bangers New Committee
A new committee has been formed to oversee the National Banger Car Construction rules for 2020 and beyond. This committee has representatives from all parts of the country, and all sections of the racing community-drivers, officials and promoters to ensure all aspects of car construction and racing are covered.
Following a successful first meeting on February 15th, the Rules for 2020 are now being checked and will be announced very soon, in time for the 1st March, which has been traditionally the date of change.
There are no major changes in the rules with respect to Unlimited and 2Litre Bangers, but the use of the Vauxhall Corsa D and the Nissan Micra K12 has been outlawed in Micro Bangers due to the weight and speed of these cars, and the Vauxhall Corsa C will now be restricted to 1200cc maximum engine size.
The Committee intend to meet again in the late summer to formulate rules for 2021 well in advance of the end of the season, such the rules can be published well in advance and come into force on January 1st 2021.
Please remember that unless the rules state that you can do it, then you cannot without pre-approval from your Promoter, and also be aware that these rules can be amended at any time, and published here on the ORCi website.
