ORC Stock Rods

Stock Rods have been a flagship formula of the Oval Racing Council (ORCi) for over twenty years, and offer low budget non-contact racing.

There are over 100 Drivers throughout England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Stock Rods offer fast, precision racing, where drivers look to skilfully find a way to overtake others to get to the front. Often, there can be as many as 25 cars on a small 1/4 mile tarmac track, which leads to exciting racing.

The Vauxhall Corsa and the Vauxhall Nova remain the two most popular cars in the Stock Rod class. Stripped of glass and its interior, the car is then strengthened for protection with a full roll cage and ancillary interior steelwork. In the main, these cars are nippy, lightweight hatchbacks, front-engined and front wheel drive. To view the full specifications, please visit the offical website here

Second hand cars range from £1000 to £4000 ready to race. New cars can range from £3000 to £7000 again ready to race. You can also build your own car as per the specifications on the official website here

The website details Fixtures, a photo gallery or the season’s feature final winners, years of history in the Roll of Honour section for the major championships, and a For Sale page where a number of cars are listed.

Race it. Unlike circuit racing, short oval circuit racing typically sees the stars of the sport start at the rear of the grid; to win they have to force charge through the grids of cars with great skill to get to the front. This is a non-contact sport, and deliberate pushing and shoving will lead to drivers being penalised.

There are no entry fees for the race meetings. The licence fee for the year is £70. With a range of approximately 70 meetings per season, drivers can choose to race as little or as often as they wish; either locally, or further afield cross the UK mainland, and in Northern Ireland. Running costs are subject to damage but roughly £100 per event.
