ORCI AGM 2023

Last week, the Annual General Meeting of the Oval Racing Council was held 9th January 2023 in Manchester. The AGM started with the formalities of confirming key positions within the ORCi for the next 12 months.

Mr Steve Rees was re-elected to the appointment of Chairman.

Mr Paul Butler was reconfirmed as Vice-Chairman and Mr Keith Organ to the position of Secretary.

A meeting of Full Council ORCi members and invited key personnel followed; a productive and constructive meeting of over 6 hours. The Short Oval Community continues to face challenges from a number of factors, but in general the Sport had seemingly held up well against the pressures of the increase in fuel costs and the wider cost of living crisis in 2022. The Full Council meeting focused on looking to the future, how the Sport can maintain and build in the Short Term and Long Term, including discussions around Climate Change, the move away from fossil fuels and the changes this will present and what the community can do, as a whole, to address this; with a view to discuss this further next meeting.

The ORCi is fully committed to doing what it can to safe guard the Sport, as best as it can and exploring opportunities presented.

Thank you everyone for the support in 2022; we look forward to seeing around the raceways in 2023 in whatever capacity you can.

See you trackside,

Keith Organ

ORCi Secretary
