National Banger World Final Mildenhall May 31st 2025

2lire National Banger World Final-Mildenhall May 31st 2025

From the National Banger Committee-

At post race scrutineering the first two cars over the finish line were deemed illegal being in contravention of  the rule stating that all external parts of the engine must remain standard.

Both cars had had the bottom crankshaft pulleys machined down to prevent them impacting on the subframe during racing and causing cambelt failure.

This has been common practice in Unlimited National Bangers for many years in order to permit the fitting of camshaft guards, and the impact of this rule had not been considered during the development of FWD National Bangers.

The purpose on this rule is to not to increase performance, but to keep cars running, and as virtually all of the ancilliary components may be changed or modified on FWD cars, exempting the crankshaft pulley was never the intention of the rule.

The National Banger Committee will recommend to Spedeworth International that the win and second places be reinstated, and there will be communication with all scrutineers that this modification is permitted for the future.
